4th of July
Happy Fourth of July! We celebrated this year by going to the mother-of-all-parades (almost 2 hours long) in the morning, and then we did our own fireworks in the front-yard with the girls in the evening, which is legal out here in the boonies. A few sparklers, champagne bottle popper, bottle rockets, and a lame thing that involved a big noise and an army man & a parachute. All in all, fun was had by all!

Swimming Life Lessons
Today was Emma's last day of swimming lessons...and she passed! She received her certificate and was quite proud of it. Regardless of the fact that I had to bribe her with gum to even go, and the look on her face today when her instructors (and Daddy) somehow convinced her to 'jump' off - heck, even climb up on - the end of the diving board; I am so proud of her! She's getting to be such a big kid now, movin' on to big kid things. Talking to her on the way home, I told her I was scared watching her on the diving board and she was getting to be such a big girl. She told me she wasn't scared (yeah, right) and that she's not a big girl, she's just a little girl and she did big girl stuff. Yes she is, and will probably always be, little in my mind. This growing up thing is scary- it was all I could do to just sit there and let her work through it all without me. Part of me wanted to wrap her in her towel and get her out of there asap, the other part was cheering her on and excited to see her accomplish a hurdle that's part of growing up. Such is life, I suppose. Add a few more feet to that figurative diving board, and most days, that would be me standing there (sans bikini, of course). Thankfully, I have a Heavenly Father who is watching from above - cheering me on through the hurdles, but there waiting with a towel and a big hug should I need it along the way.
