Emma & The Big Red Dog

Emma got to meet one of her favorite TV characters today! Clifford, the big red dog is the big exhibit at the MN Children's museum this summer. And of all the TV characters to love, Im so thankful, we're still in PBS territory, and Hannah Montana and Spongebob - gag - aren't on her radar yet. Good, innocent, sweet, and simple Clifford.

Anyway, the girls both had fun running crazy at the museum - both soaking in the environment in different ways. Emma, observing everyone and everything. Eden, tasting everyone and everything.

A Day At The Zoo

Daddy had the day off of work, so we packed up the girls after church and headed for the Minnesota Zoo. We had a nice afternoon checking out all the animals, going for a hay ride (minus the hay), and splashing around a bit in the splash park. Fun was had by all! More pics on Picasa.

Another Wedding

Emma was a flower girl, for the second time this summer, in my other sister's wedding this past weekend. The weather was perfect, the whole thing went off without a hitch (well, only a couple minor ones), and both Emma and her cuz' Jacob did a great job as the flower girl and ring bearer. A few more pics up on Picasa.

Nothin' Beats Ice Cream After A Hard Day of Fishin'

I think this was Emma's first fishing adventure! She was pretty excited about the whole thing, from looking for the worms with Dad to finding just the right spot to cast the line. Unfortunately, after 5 casts, she was over it...and they didn't catch anything. Fortunately, what you dont see just to the right of the little red building in the background, is that there is a Dairy Queen conveniently located within a rocks throw. Nothin' beats an ice cream sundae after a hard day of fishin'. I can't say I was dissappointed - being Eden's handler for the whole thing was almost more than I could take. Eden wanted to fish too, so we found a stick and she poked the mucky green pond goo with it and was trying to eat it. This, after repeated attempts to jump right in and just 'fish' with her hands. Oy.

Outdoor Adventures

One of the benefits of living out in the sticks is that all that fun 'outdoorsie' stuff, is right out your back door. We live about 10 min. away from a really nice state park right on the St. Croix River. The girls and I headed there for the morning to do a little hiking and picnicing. We had lunch on a bluff overlooking the river and the girls enjoyed watching all the boats go by - while I watched my one year old pound down almost half of a footlong subway sandwhich (it was truly amazing...and Im kicking myself for not getting it on video). Then we went on a little hike to (ahem.) burn off a few calories. The whole time Emma was pestering me to let them stick their feet in the water, so after our hike we found a spot, and the girls had fun playing in the water and Eden enjoyed a dessert of river mud.
