Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had a nice and small Thanksgiving celebration this year - due to some family members being under the weather. Emma gave me a hand with the turkey...as you can see this is about where that help stopped. Oh well.

If Emma was Muslim
This is Emma and my friend Jennifer - she's a missionary in Indonesia and has been staying with us a few days while she is here in the states on furlough. Jennifer shared all about her life in Indonesia on Monday night at a little get-together that we had in her honor. We saw tons of pictures of where she lives and works, and learned a little about the culture in Indonesia. It was very interesting, but more, it made me so thankful for the country that we live in. Emma is wearing a Jilbab. Its a muslim head covering that most girls and women wear in Indonesia. She looks darn cute in it, doesn't she? Seeing her wearing something like this though can't but make me wonder what her little life would be like if she were born somewhere else. Despite all our differences, we still live in One Nation Under God that was founded on the belief that we should be able to worship who we want, how we want to - and tonight I get to tuck Emma in bed, watch her fold her hands and try to keep her eyes shut, and we get to pray to God and can do so without fear - we bless Emma's Mommy & Daddy, her brother and sister, her Aunts & Uncles, her Grammy's and Papa's, and we thank Him for all blessings he shows us...and she drifts off sleep without a care in the world.
God Bless America.
