Halloween was a little more fun this year - Emma was more aware of what was going on, and therefore was much more effective at procuring an adequate chocolate stash for Mom and Dad. Nice! She was too cute. All day long I was hyping her up for her family duty to bring home the bacon...er, candy. We did a couple test runs at our front door and she did marvelous! Smile, say "trick-or-treat", and if they offer you the bowl to pick your own treat - grab the biggest handful your two-year old hands can hold! She was ready!
So, after dinner she was jumping at the bit to get out the door -- so much so that I forgot to wash her little face, so if you see any of the other pictures, you'll notice the ketchup on her cheeks.
An afternoon of trick-or-treating practice, a good nap, a decent dinner (seriously, it was a dinner with ketchup involved - it wasn't that exciting), her and Eden were zipped into their costumes and we were ready for some action! Eden did her part to spooky-up the evening by chewing on her (made in China) flashlight; and Emma, giddy and giggling, walked up to the first house with Daddy. The doorbell was rang, and it opened...and out of her mouth "I WAN CANDY!". Oh well. Not quite what we had practiced, but she got the gist of the lesson obviously. Regardless, her method was effective and she went home with a sagging pumpkin full of candy. And after a couple of tootsie rolls, a good face scrub, and teeth thoroughly brushed, her and her sister were off to dreamland.
* A special thanks to our Official Photographer (aka Papa) for taking all the pictures!
