Happy Halloween!

Halloween was a little more fun this year - Emma was more aware of what was going on, and therefore was much more effective at procuring an adequate chocolate stash for Mom and Dad. Nice! She was too cute. All day long I was hyping her up for her family duty to bring home the bacon...er, candy. We did a couple test runs at our front door and she did marvelous! Smile, say "trick-or-treat", and if they offer you the bowl to pick your own treat - grab the biggest handful your two-year old hands can hold! She was ready!
So, after dinner she was jumping at the bit to get out the door -- so much so that I forgot to wash her little face, so if you see any of the other pictures, you'll notice the ketchup on her cheeks.
An afternoon of trick-or-treating practice, a good nap, a decent dinner (seriously, it was a dinner with ketchup involved - it wasn't that exciting), her and Eden were zipped into their costumes and we were ready for some action! Eden did her part to spooky-up the evening by chewing on her (made in China) flashlight; and Emma, giddy and giggling, walked up to the first house with Daddy. The doorbell was rang, and it opened...and out of her mouth "I WAN CANDY!". Oh well. Not quite what we had practiced, but she got the gist of the lesson obviously. Regardless, her method was effective and she went home with a sagging pumpkin full of candy. And after a couple of tootsie rolls, a good face scrub, and teeth thoroughly brushed, her and her sister were off to dreamland.
* A special thanks to our Official Photographer (aka Papa) for taking all the pictures!

Hell Hath No Fury...

It was a nice, balmy 90 degree day here today; so the girls and I headed to the pumpkin patch in hopes of finding the perfect pumpkin, making some nice fall memories and traditions, all the while avoiding the weekend crowds - but mostly it was for Mom to get out of the house, as our afternoon naps were cut a little short today thanks to a very inconsiderate and persistent door-to-door salesman. After I 'let him have it' and pointed out that he should learn to read and/or have his eyes checked as we have a blaring sign that says "NO SOLICITING" on our window. I shut (er...slammed) the door and was about to get online to find out who at his company would like to listen to my daughter whine and the other holler all afternoon because they were so tired - and of course a few nice words from their frazzled mother - when I noticed that our "no soliciting" sign had somehow grew legs and made its way from our window to another location not visible to anyone regardless of their eyesight or literacy level. Oops. My bad. Sorry ADT kid...Im sure you're just doing your job...but I digress.

Emma got the biggest pumpkin she could carry...and it cost me a whole $1.30, so you can only imagine its size. We even got a hayride and met a couple of pot-bellied pigs and a nice dog named Peanut. Fun was had by all!

Emma's Singing Debut!

Our little musician has delved into singing. The favorites recently are The Itsy Bitsy Spider, Shout Hosanna! (Donut Man), Clean-up Clean-up (Barney), Jesus Loves Me, and Beautiful Day (U2)...to name just a few. This video is of her singing Jesus Loves Me and showing off her multi-tasking skills. Poor Eden.

Emma and Her Buddy

Emma and her buddy Chester spent the morning playing in Emma's tent. I can only imagine what they were doing in there - but all I could hear was the sound of puppy paws dancing on the hardwood floor, and the jingle of his dog collar, followed by big ol' belly-laughs from Emma. I called Emma's name and her head popped out, then I called Chester's name and his head popped out. Luckily, I had my camera ready.

Thanks Chester for being such a good buddy.

p.s. you need a bath
