See You Soon Mom...

My Mom left today. Its hard to believe its been three weeks already! I called her at 10pm on the night my water broke, and she managed to drop everything, pack her bags, and walk off an airplane in California by 10am the next morning. Not that I was all that surprised - she's managed to be there (physically and otherwise) for me multiple times in my life regardless what coast I happened to be on or needed to get to. And she always gets there just in time!

Im going to miss her, but I think Emma will miss her the most. After three weeks of her undivided attention, I think she'll notice the big voids in her day. Its times like these that I really wish we lived closer to my family. Im sure we'll manage fine with out her here all the time - its mostly that I dont want to have to. A girl never quite outgrows her need for a Mom, and when you have one as remarkable as mine, its hard to not be close at times like these. Im sure its hard for her as well, but after three weeks sandboxes, bubbles and more stories than she can count; she is probably looking forward to a little break.

Thank you for everything Mom!

Two Grandma's?

Emma and Eden got to have lunch with BOTH of their Grandma's today! I wish this was more the norm for us, seeing both of them all the time; but its not, so we'll relish this time together as much as we can. I think Emma was a little thrown when she saw Grandma Barbara and realized that both of her "Gammies" have the same name...it was almost like she didnt know what to say. It was pretty cute.
Love to our Gammies. XOXO

Got Milk?

Well, Eden is now two weeks old. She's growing like a weed - and Im proud to say, has a second chin already (we're shooting for three)! She's made a nice little transition into the family - she sleeps so great (we're sleeping all night, with two quick feedings) and I cant believe how great I feel. We've gotten out and about a little already, and she's a good little traveler and loves her carseat. Maybe most children start out like this, and the "Man Upstairs" knew I needed a firstborn like Emma to initialize me into motherhood; but I feel like for every difficulty we had in the beginning with Emma, Eden sails through it without problems or loss of sleep and frustration. I know it wont always be like this, and like most kids, she'll have her days...but until then, THANK YOU JESUS!

Eden's Arrival!

Well, she's HERE! Finally!

Eden Kay Gilliland made her debut early this morning at 2:48a.m. She was born at home in under 4 hours, and delivered by her Daddy and Grandma Jean. The Midwife was 10 minutes away, but that was just too long for her after almost 3 days with her water broke I guess. She came in weighing 7lbs, 9oz and is 21 inches long. Her and Mom and doing great, Dad (I think) has recovered from the shock, and Emma is very proud that "ENEN" is finally out of Mommy's tummy and completely SHOCKED about where she gets her milk. Apparently Emma's long term memory doesnt go back 5 months.

We'll post more pics as soon as we figure out our new camera...

Thank you to everyone who was praying for us - we needed it! It was a looooonnnnggg 3 days, but incredibly worth it!

Emma Goes to the Zoo

These are Emma & my last couple weeks of being just 'us'...our little (and excitedly welcome) 'third wheel' will be here soon. So today, her and I took off on a trip to the zoo (the REAL zoo...not just Petsmart). She was very excited - everytime the car would slow down or stop at a stoplight, she'd ask: Monkey? And the Zoo did not dissappoint - there were plenty of Monkeys! We had fun on a train ride, watching a waterfall, and trying to copy the noises all the birds made...but her favorite part was of course the dirt & rocks. Maybe next time I'll just take her out to the desert and let her loose! Its closer, cheaper, and she'd be just as entertained. Oh well.

Lovely Days

After all the gloom and doom predicted by the weather guys - it was a pleasant surprise to be out in the sun - sorry Mr. Meteorologist, wrong AGAIN! Anyway, Emma and I played in the backyard this afternoon, and our little comic hammed it up by squishing her face into the screen door and making funny faces for my amusement.

Here's a pic of my Irises too! They're bigger than Emma!
